According to sky news reports,  the tapes whose original copies were destroyed in th 1960s and 1970 by BBC were found gathering dust in  television station in Jos, north of Nigeria. Though the report made it clear that the episodes were not stollen because BBC copied some for sale to foreign broadcasters.

"It's trilling," Mark Gatiss, who is the writer of Doctor Who current episodes said.

"Every single avenue seemed to have been exhausted, every now and then something turns up- but to have two virtually complete stories out of the blues is absolutely incredible."

Despite the find, there are 97 episodes that a yet to be Found.

The tapes originally went from Britain to Hong Kong and then to a series of television stations in Nigeria as part of the distribution system that operated at that time.

The episode were uncovered by by Philip Morris director of Television International Enterprise Archive.

"The tapes had been left gathering dust in a storeroom at a television relay station in Nigeria, just sitting there on the shelf" he told BBC.

"I remember wiping the dust off the masking tape on the canisters and my heart missed a beat as I saw the the word ,Doctor Who. When I read the story code I realised I'd found something pretty special" he added.
