If information emanating from Nasarawa state christians pilgrims welfare board is anything to go by, Nigerias should hold their peace knowing fully well that one day Muslims and christians would one day coexist peacefully in a nation and region where religious intolerance reign supreme.
The executive secretary of the Nasarawa state Christian pilgrimage welfare board mr Clement Odeh says 30 out of the 241 persons performing the 2013 pilgrimage in the holy land were sponsored by Muslims.
Mr Odeh disclosed this at the farewell ceremony sending the pilgrims to Israel, Rome and Greece.
"Out of 241 pilgrims, 200 were sponsored by the state government, while 41 were self sponsored, " Odeh said. "Out of the 41 that were self - sponsored, 30 were sponsored by Muslims while only 11 were sponsored by Christian faithfuls"
According to Leadership newspaper reports, Mr Odeh called on wealthy christians particularly political office holders to sponsor the less privileged in the society to the holy land.
"The journey is not for pleasure but, to encounter God and pray for peaceful coexistence of the state"
He added that, "Our hitherto peaceful state witnessed communal crisis recently in some parts, and we urge pilgrims to pray for return of peace in the state."
