Demba Ba's first half goal was all chelsea needed on Wednesday evening at Stamford Bridge to lift to the top of their Champions league group.
Ba scored a first half goal against bottom place Steaua Bucharest to secure a 1-0 victory against the visitors. Chelsea who already have qualified for the round of 16 had trashed the visitors 0-4 in Bucharest.
This victory at Stamford Bridge finally ensures the top spot for Chelsea though the game was not the type that portrays the blues as a team to beat in this year's Champions league campaign.
" I agree it was not a fantastic performance but it was comfortable, " said Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
" We did enough to win without any kind of difficult moment. If we had scored a second goal we would have jumped to another performance. "
Mourinho had been vexed by Chelsea's careless defending after they conceded six goals in two games against Sunderland and Stoke City last week.
