Super Eagles Begins Journey For AFCON 2015 Glory As They Prepare To Face Congo In Calabar.

Work have begun by the Super Eagles head coach Stephen Keshi and his assistants towards the 2015 AFCON qualifier to be played in Calabar by the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Congo Brazaville.

According to the Eagles media spokesman, mr Ben Alaiya, most of the invited players are already in the country and John Mikel Obi and Vincent Enyeama are expected by the evening of Tuesday. He said Stephen Keshi's focus now is to build a formidable team that would dismantle any Congolese obstacles in the weekend game.

"The big boss has banished all forms of distractions that would hinder him from assembling a formidable squad for the qualifier. Some of the invited players are already in the country, " He said.

"I cannot tell you the total number of player in the camp now, but eventually Mikel, Enyeama and others of their teammates must be in camp by Tuesday. If Keshi does not have a reasonable number of players by monday evening, the Eagles will have their first full training by Tuesday morning.  This is because all players would have already been present in camp then.

"All hands are on deck to ensure that Eagles come out victorious in the game. " He added.

A reliable anonymous source told The Guardian that the Congolese team would arrive Nigeria by Wednesday.

Ebola: Nigerian Banks Adopts Proactive Measures.

In an effort to curb the malignant spread of the Ebola virus diseases EVD, banks in Lagos, South- West, Nigeria have adopted a procedure in which customers are made to use hand sanitizers before entering the banking hall.

These sanitizers are placed beside the entrances with security guards directing customers to use the sanitizers before they are allowed into the halls.

In the fight against the spread of Ebola, the use of soaps has been widely publicised as an effective possible antidote against the deadly virus.

COMMUNITY SHIELD: Arsenal Trash Manchester City To Claim Title.

Arsenal Fc on Sunday,  whipped league rivals Manchester City 3-0 to clinch the English community shield silverware.

Santi carzola opened the score sheet for the London side in the first half and the London side mounted most of the pressure in quest for more goals. Towards the end of the first half,  Aaron Ramsey made it to the score sheet.

The beginning of the second half saw the Manchester blues trying to get something out of the game or possibly to equalise but Olivia Geroud fired the shot that broke the camels back when he made it three in the 62 minutes giving the gunners a comfortable victory over the English champions.

Comedian Julius Agwu To Run For 2015 Gubernatorial Race In Rivers State.

Ace comedian Julius Agwu has declared his interest to run for the governorship position in Rivers State come 2015 reports Vanguard online. 

The Choba born comedian flagged off  his campaign with a campaign poster that went viral on the social media.
The poster had an inscription that read: "Our moment of change! Julius Agwu for Governor----Rivers 2015.

Though the declaration has not be formally made by the comedian,  he joins the surging number of celebrities that are eyeing political positions in Nigeria. Comedian cum gyration singer Tony Muonagor a.k.a Tony-One-Week is a member of the Anambra State house of Assembly.

$480 Million Late General Abacha's Loot Recovered By The U.S.

The United States has recovered the sum of $480 million looted by the late Nigerian dictator general Sani Abacha who became president through a coup in November 1993 and remained in that position until his death in 1998.

Allafrica.com reports that according to a justice department news release on Thursday,  the money represent a portion of the billions of dollars stollen from the Nigeria people by the dictator, his son Mohammed Sani Abacha and their associate Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

The report says that approximately $303 million are in two banks in the British dependency jersey, $144 million are in two bank accounts in France,  three bank accounts in Britain and Ireland have at least $27 million.

It is a pity that while these stollen funds are being recovered,  the ruling party is preparing the dictator's son and cohort Mohammed Sani Abacha to run for the governorship position in Kano State come 2015.

Why Is The Seat Of Super Eagles Head Coach Still Vacant?

Following the Nigeria national team's crash in the round of 16 in the past FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the seat of the men's national team coach became vacant. The contract of the team's head coach to the last nations cup and world cup Stephen Keshi expired with BRAZIL 2014.

With the brouhaha of ban between the Nigerian Football Federation and FIFA over,  and the nations cup qualifiers fast at hand, Nigerian football administration has not made any move to fill the gap created by the expiration of Coach Stephen Keshi's  contract or hold talks with Keshi to renew his contract. Keshi made it clear shortly after the world cup that he wanted to continue with the Eagles job but NFF has not contacted him for talks.

The question is what is NFF waiting for before filling this vacancy?  Are the administrators waiting for the last minute to hire one that will deal a dirty blow on Nigeria's football again?

Dog Survives A 16 Storeys Fall Without Injury.

A 4 year old dog, Susie, Fell down through an air conditioner vent of a Florida building from the 16th floor and was eventually rescued without any injuries or broken bones.

According to CNN reports,  the dog went with the owner to visit a neighbour at the 16th floor. The dog followed a scent into the closet where it fell into an unsecured ventilation chamber.

Local fire workers worked hard to save it from the vent before it was rushed to an animal hospital.

The owner, a 63 year old woman cried "I dont have any children. Susie is all I have and the only family I have."

The emergency doctor who attended to the dog after the fall said that the dog's survival after such fall is "nothing but a miracle, " and the fact that there was no injury " is another miracle. "

In a game that ended like a revenge mission from the 2010 World cup final,  defending Champions Spain suffered a humiliating defeat in the hands of Netherlands; losing 1-5 in their first 2014 World cup game.

Spain opened the score sheet when Diego Costa was brought down inside the box and Xabi Alonso converted the spot kick.

 In the 44th minute , before the close of the first,  Robin Van Persie nodded a cross over the head of  an obviously out of position Ikr Casillas into the net.

In the second half,  Arjen Robin gave the Dutch side a second goal in the 53 minutes.

In the 64th minute it was Stefan de Vrij turn to enter the score sheet for Netherlands.

Robin Van Persie got on the score sheet again in the 72 minutes when he capitalised on Casillas clearance error to poke the ball into the net.

In the 80th minute,  Netherlands made a successful counter attack in which Arjen Robin got his brace for the day.

Nigerian Gospel Singer Kefee Dies In The US.

Nigerian Gospel singer popularly Known as Kefee is dead.  She died in the early hours of today, Friday, June 13 2014 of Lung Failure.

Prior to her demise, Kefee Collapsed in Chicago airport after the plane in which she and her husband travelled in was forced to make an emergency landing.

She went into a coma that lasted a week before her death this morning and was rumoured to be  in coma as a result of pregnancy induced high blood pressure; a rumour which has been cleared by her husband and Uk manager to be false.

Brazil Opens The World Cup With A 3-1 Win Over Croatia.

 The 2014 FIFA World Cup host team began their World cup campaign on a positive track when they beat their first group opponents Croatia by 3-1.

The first goal of the tournament was an own goal scored by Mercelo for Croatia in the 11th minute of the first half. The Brazilians equalised in the 29th minute through a super strike from Neymar. The Brazilians came on the score sheet again in the 71 minutes when Fred was brought down inside the  opponent's box and the spot kick brilliantly converted by Neymar.

Brazil got a third goal in the 90+1 minutes when Oscar picked a loose ball and made a superb solo effort and Slotted in the ball into the net.

Mba Caused His Exclusion From Eagles World Cup List----- Stephen Keshi.

The head coach of Nigeria senior national team coach Stephen Keshi has explained the exclusion of Sunday Mba from the 23 man list of players that would represent Nigeria at the world cup in Brazil.

Mba played a vital role in Nigeria's conquest of the African continent at the AFCON 2013 nations cup, scoring the winning goal against Ivory Coast and the only goal in the final which gave Nigeria the Trophy.

Keshi told fifa.com : "His lateness to camp contributed but outside that he did not show the hunger, the fight we expected from him.

"We have only two and half weeks to prepare for the World cup and he was not giving us what we wanted. He was very relaxed and it was unlike him." Keshi said.

The Super eagles of Nigeria, on Wednesday night, began their World cup preparations on a promising footing when they were held to a 2-2 draw by the Scottish national team at the Craven Cottage.

The Super Eagles had more of the possession throughout the duration of the game played in London. The first half ended in one goal apace situation but the Scottish side scored a second  goal early in the second half which they held until the 90th minute.

The Eagles scored a late goal in the 90 minutes to make the final score line 2-2 which by all indication is a good result as they tune up in preparation for the World Cup that starts on the 12th of June in Brazil.

Real Madrid Beat Atletico Madrid 4-1 To Win 2014 Champions league title.

Real Madrid fc of Spain last night in Lisbon Portugal defeated the 2014 Spanish La liga champions, Atletico Madrid 4-1 to clinch the 2014 Champions league title.

Atletico Madrid opened the score sheet in 36th minutes when Diego Godin beat Sami Khendira in the air and loops the ball over an onrushing Ike Casillas who could not stop the ball from crossing the line.

The remainder of the regulation time was played with Real trying to equalise but to no avail as Atletico defence stood their ground.

In the 3rd of the 5 minutes added time, Real equalised as Sagio Ramos nodded in a Luka Modric corner.

In the 110 minutes of the extra time, Gareth Bale nodded in an Angel di Maria's effort that was saved by the Atletico Keeper.

In the 118 minutes,  Mercelo capitalised on the weakness of the opponent's defence line to fire in the third goal.

State Governor Turns Cab Driver.

The Governor of Edo state of Nigeria,  Comrade Adams Oshinmole literally turned a cab driver last week as he was seen picking and dropping passengers in the City of Benin, the Edo State Capital.

The Governor,  in an occasion where he gave out 300 cabs to former operators  of commercial motorcycles that the government banned in the state  last year, decided to test run one of the cabs. And instead of driving the cab around the field decided to hit the road and drove round the city picking and dropping passengers  as he went, charging them reasonable fare.

Though his passengers were ready to pay, the governor refrained from taking the fare from them.

Catholic Priests' Lovers Beg Pope To Abolish Celibacy.

A group of women apparently in secret love affairs with some Catholic priests have written pope Francis demanding that the celibacy rule on priests should be abolished.

According to an Italian newspaper report which was  posted by news24 . Nigeria, the 26 women who also requested an audience with the Pope wrote: "We are all experiencing, have experienced or would like to experience a love affair with a priest with whom we have fallen in love. "

The Italian newspaper La Stampa said the women pointed out their 'devastating suffering' due to the secret nature of their affairs with these priests and said "Something could change not only for us,but for the good of all the church."

They argued that a priest would be better in his vocation in the service of Jesus and community if he has his wife and children beside him.

Tiwa Savage and Wizkid have had their Pepsi ambassadorial deals renewed by the beverages manufacturing company for another 5 years according to Daily Times. Ng reports.

Their last deal with the company lasted for 2 years which ended in 2013. The deal was negotiated by Mr Paul Okoye of Management and consultancy firm, Upfront and personal.

Mr Okoye used his instagram page to announce the new deal as he posted a photo of Tiwa, Wizkid, a white lady and a can of Pepsi.

Manchester City Moves To Sign Emmanuel Emenike.

Barclays Premier League champions Manchester City are now leading a trio of English premier league clubs that are lining up to secure the signature of Super Eagles top Striker Emmanuel Emenike.

According to sources from both England and Turkey, Manchester City and the other two clubs have made their intentions know to Fernarbahce but the turkish side is not ready to give up their valuable strike unless for a huge fee. And this fee could be in the region of €20 million.

Other clubs linings up for Emenike's signature are Tottenham Hotspurs and Everton.

Last week, news of Solange Knowles attack on her brother-in-law JayZ in an elevator which Beyonce watched helplessly was rife on the social media. Now reasons have emerged why the fight actually happened.

Boko Haram Releases Video Of Missing School Girls As FG Rejects Sect's Condition For Their Release.

Boko Haram insurgency group on Monday, May 12, released video of the missing Chibok School girls who were taken into captivity on April 14 as they were writing the WAEC Examination.

In the video the girls who most of them are Christians were seen reciting verses from the quran. The leader of the dreaded group  Abubakar Shekau said that the girls have been converted to Islam.

He later said that the girls would not be released until the Federal Government releases his members held by the government in different parts of the country.

Meanwhile in the latest developments the Federal Government have rejected the insurgents conditions for the release of the abducted Chibok school girls. Speaking through the DG of the National Orientation Agency, Mike Omeri, the government refused to go into any form of negotiations with the insurgents.

" All options are on the table and open, we are interacting with the military and intelligent experts who are already on surveillance in the north - eastern part of the country. We will adopt all available options to get the girls out, but we will not negotiate with the sect." He said.

Real Madrid Trashes Beyern Munich 4-0 To Qualify For Champions League Final.

Real Madrid FC on Tuesday night trashed Beyern Munich FC 4-0 at the Allianz arena to qualify for the 2014 UEFA Champions league final.

Two goals each from Sergio Ramos and Christiano Ronaldo was enough to secure a deserved victory for the Spanish side.

Real Madrid opened scoring in the 16th minutes when Sergio Ramos headed a Luka Modric corner into Beyern Munich net.

In the 20th minute, Angel De Maria's free kick from the right found pepe who flicks a header to a diving Sergio Ramos whose header finds the back of the net for his second goal of the night.

In the 34th minute,  Gareth Bale's cross after tearing away from Beyern Munich defence found Christiano Ronaldo who scores his first for the night.

The better part of the second half saw Beyern doing all playing and asking all the questions in order to score Five goals to bring them back into the game.

In the 90 minute,  Christiano Ronaldo fires a free kick under a jumping Beyern Munich wall to find the back of Beyern Munich net and bringing their lead to 0-4

Nollywood Super Writer And Producer Amaka Igwe Is Dead.

The death has been announced of the demise of nollywood veteran script write and producer Mrs Amaka Igwe. She died  in an asthmatic attack on April 28 in Enugu where she went with her husband for a preproduction arrangements for a new igbo soap opera.

Amaka wrote and produced blockbusters like  Violated, Checkmate,  Fuji house of commotion and Rattlesnake. 

She is one of those that brought change in the way Nigerian movie industry used to be when she released "Rattlesnake" in 1995 and since then continued writing and producing blockbusters.

Amaka is survived by husband Charles Igwe, Three children and an aged mother.

Barcelona's Tito Vilanova Dies In The Fight Against Cancer.

Former FC Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova has lost in his fight against throat cancer. He died on Friday April 25 after undergoing an emergency surgery on Thursday at a clinic in Barcelona.

Vilanova took over at Barca from Pep Guardiola in 2012 and won the Spanish La Liga in his first year as a manager.

"The FC Barcelona is in immense mourning. Tito Vilanova  has died at the age of 45. May he rest in peace. "  Barcelona released on official twitter statement.

Vilanova spent a week in the hospital after a gastric complication arose recently.

Angel de Maria opened scoring in the first half of the game when his 10th minute strike beat the Barcelona keeper to hit the back of the net.

In the 68th minute, Marc Bartra equalised for Barcelona when he nodded  a corner kick into the Real Madrid net.

In the 85 minutes of the game Gareth Bale's pace paid off when he out ran a Barcelona defender and scored the winning goal of the game.

With the loss, Barcelona will now end the season with no trophy as they are out of the Champions league and currently third on the Spanish La liga with Atletico Madrid sitting comfortably at the top.

Suspected Kidnapper Set Ablaze In Ilorin

A suspected kidnapper was on Friday set ablaze in Ilorin the Kwara State capital by an angry mob.

The middle aged woman got herself into trouble when she allegedly absconded with the baby of another woman who was alighting from a commercial motorcycle and begged the her to help her hold the child.

People in the area pursued , caught her and gave her the beating of her life before setting her ablaze.

An eyewitness told Daily Times NG: "A nursing mother who was cuddling a baby was alighting from a motorcycle and asked the female kidnapper to help her hold the baby.

"Before we knew what was happening, the woman fled with the toddler and people caught her. She was given tbe beating of her life. When they discovered that the woman was unperturbed, they poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze at the scene. 

"Immediately the police arrived the scene, they started shooting and everybody scampered to safety. "

Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police Kwara State has confirmed the incident.

Controversial nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh is all over the social media again. This time the actress is not firing at other superstars but at her Siblings.

WWF Wrestlemania Legend 'Ultimate Warrior' Dies at 54

Popular wrestling Champion of the 1990s Ultimate warrior is dead according to World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE) reports.  Warrior who was born James Hellwig and changed his name to Warrior in 1993 died few days after he was inducted into the WWE Hall of fame and returned to the company after 18 years break up.

The news posted late Tuesday said the wrestler died at the age of 54 and has since attracted a flood of tributes from wrestling fans, perfomers and officials.

According to pm news, Warrior died on the day WWE released a DVD produced in honour of Warrior.

In the statement, the company said: "WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE superstar ever, the ultimate warrior,

"We are grateful just days ago, warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of fame and was able to appear at Wrestlemania 30 and Monday night Raw to address his legions of fans. WWE sends its sincere condolence to Warrior's family and fans."

Warrior was known for his energetic style, sprinting down the aisle to the ring and violent shaking of the rope to psych himself up.

Real Madrid Qualify For Champions League Semi finals Despite 2 - 0 Loss At Dortmund.

Real Madrid fc of Spain qualified for the 2014 UEFA Champions league despite loosing 2 - 0 to Borussia Dortmund in Germany on Tuesday night.

The Spanish giants have earlier defeated the Bundesliga side  3-0 in Spain

Real Madrid failed to take the lead in the first half when Angel De Maria could not convert a penality in the 17th minute.

At the 24th minute, Marco Rues put the home side ahead when he caught a wrong back header by Pepe and scored an opener of his brace.

In the 37th minute Marco Reus nabbed his second goal when Iker Casillas palmed a shot by Robert Lewandowski. Reus quickly smashed the rebound into the net.

After 93 minutes,  the victory could not see Dortmund through because of the 3-0 victory advantage Real Madrid came to the game with.

Chelsea Beat PSG 2 - 0 To Qualify For Champions League Semis.

Chelsea fc of England defeated Paris Saint German 2 - 0 on Tuesday night at the Stamford Bridge to qualify for the semi finals of the 2014 UEFA Champions league.

Chelsea lost 3 - 1 in Paris but now qualifies thanks to the one away goal they scored in Paris.

Andre Scharrle who was brought in for Edin Hazard in the 18th minutes got the first goal for the blues in the 32nd minutes when David Luiz flick throw landed to him in the penality area.  Scharrle calmly slot the ball into the corner of the net.

Chelsea had to continue Pilling pressure on the visitors in the tension filled second half.

In the 87 minutes, substitute Demba Ba got the goal that twisted the game when Christopher Jallet could not clear Azpilicueta shot across goal from outside the penalty area and Demba Ba forced the ball in from a close range.

The game ended 2 - 0 in favour of the home side and Chelsea advance to the semi finals.

Two Spanish historians Margarita Torres and Jose Manuel Ortega Del Rio claimed they have found and identified the grail that Jesus Christ drank from at the last supper with his disciples.

Nigerian musician Danny Young was involved in a road accident on Saturday along Lagos- Ibadan express way on his way to the Nigerian Youth Service Corps ( NYSC ) orientation camp in Sagamu, Ogun State.

According to the newswireng , the star was traveling with his band when their car ran into another car. Though no death was recorded in the crash, Danny and his crew have been admitted into a  hospital in Lagos for treatment.

Middle Aged Ritualist Nabbed With Human Tongues.

Barely three days since a kidnappers den was discovered in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, Nigeria,  another nabbing has been made of one ritualist with four human Tongues and skeletons. The middle aged man reportedly disguised himself as a madman to facilitate his devilish acts.

Daily times ng reports that the man was apprehended by residents of Ring road Ibadan who suspected his movement. A source told the correspondent:

"The nabbed ritualist stayed by the side of the pedestrian bridge at Oni and sons bus stop, have been perpetuating the evil acts for some months now. "

In a city still recovering from the shock of the Kidnappers/ Ritualists incident, the middle aged man ran out of luck.

"When some residents of the area who have been suspecting his movement discovered his notorious acts, they decided to deal with the support of the police. " Another source who sought anonymity said.

"While searching him, various bras, female pants of various sizes and female clothes believed to belong to his victims were found, "

"Also papers, skeletons and dangerous weapons were found in his base."

Three days ago, residents of Ibadan were greeted by the news of the discovery of a kidnappers den in a bush. In this hideout,  many decomposing bodies and scores of living but highly fermished people were found chained to the walls and floors of an uncompleted building.

Arsene Wenger Set To Quit Arsenal.

There is rife speculation that Arsenal manager of Over 19 years,  Arsene Wenger is set to leave the London side at the end of the current season and Football Direct News went further to claim that the players have been informed of the decision.

Samuel Eto'o Set To Quit Chelsea Over Age Row With Mourinho.

Chelsea Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o is set to quit his Stamford Bridge side at the end of this season.

The reason for the striker's decision according to sports analysts, was because of his dissatisfaction about Chelsea's manager Jose Mourinho's  claims that the player may be far older than the 32 year he claimed.

Two months ago,  a French television aired the Portuguese manager's private discussion with a friend. In the discussion,  Mourinho told the friend that he had a team but no striker and went ahead to say that Eto'o was 32 or even 35.

In the hullabaloo that ensued in the media especially, the player's ex girlfriend added salt to injury by telling the world that the player was 39.

Since then, Samuel Eto'o has not been happy with his stay at Stamford Bridge little wonder he had to perform the old man as he celebrated his goal in the game against Tottenham Hotspurs. To make matters worse, Mourinho casted him to the bench in the next game.

His next destination in not quite clear but Spanish side Real Mallorca has shown interest once again in his services.

I Am Still Searching For My Real Father-------Tyler Perry.

Movie producer Tyler Perry has revealed that he is still searching for his biological father since he found out that the man who brought him up is not his father.

Tyler has known Emmitt Perry Snr as his father since Emmitt is the man he has lived and grew up with.

Tyler said his late mother refused to tell him the truth about who his father was even though there were times when he doubted that Emmitt was his father due to the way he maltreated him as he grew up.

"I love my mother to death but she lied to me, "

Tyler found out shortly after his mother's death when DNA test revealed that Tyler and his brother were not sired by the same man.

Another DNA with Emmitt suggested that Tyler looked for his father elsewhere.

Chelsea FC, Tuesday night,  defeated Galatasaray 2 -0 at the Stamford Bridge to qualify for the UEFA champions league quarter finals on 3 - 1 aggregate.

Samuel Eto'o opened the score sheet in the 4th minute of the first half when he picked Oscar's pass and beat an offside trap then shot the ball past Galatasaray keeper Fernando Muslera.

In the 42nd minute,  Gary Cahill made it 2 for Chelsea after Captain John Terry headed Frank Lampard's corner kick. Fernando Muslera saved the effort but left the ball to fall to Cahill who Thumped the ball into the net.

Chelsea played a 1-1 draw with Galatasaray at Istanbul and now qualifies for the quarter finals which draw holds later in the week.

Drogba Will Return To Chelsea One Day.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said that Chelsea's greatest signing of all times Didier Drogba will return to Stamford Bridge one day.

Mourinho made the statement as his side and Galatasaray prepare for the second leg of their Champions league round of 16 matches at the Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

Drogba is playing for the first time since 2012 when he left the London side  after helping them lift the UEFA Champions league trophy.

Mourinho believes that one day Drogba will return to Chelsea to serve in any capacity.

"That's not for me to decide. That's for Chelsea to decide. I think it has to happen one day," mourinho told newsman.

"When? I don't know. As a player, as a coach, as an ambassador? Next year, in four to five,  in ten years, I don't know. But when a person represents so much to a club and a club represents so much to a person I think he has to be welcome back.

"Undoubtedly he is one of the most important players in the history of the club. That's no doubt. "

Mourinho was reacting to Newsmen when they asked him whether he could see Drogba back to Chelsea.
